Definition of infertility

Infertility is defined as the inability to get pregnant after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse.

Relationship between infertility rate and male/ female factors

Around 1 in 6 (17%) couples are having difficulties in conceiving and this proportion is increasing, mainly due to two reasons: 1) Women are starting their families at a later age in order to achieve their career goals, 2) Sperm counts are falling. However, with the appropriate help, the vast majority of couples can achieve pregnancy.
